List of Prohibited Items

Certain items cannot be received, stored, shipped, imported, exported due to regulatory, hazard, safety or other reasons. N.B Perfumes can be delivered locally.

  1. Narcotics (drugs) as defined by the International Narcotics Control Board and other illicit drugs as defined by the country of destination e.g. Heroin and Mandrax
  2. Psychotropic substances under international control 
  3. Pornography / obscene material
  4. Furs
  5. Human remains 
  6. Firearms and ammunition 
  7. Counterfeit and pirated goods
  8. Coins 
  9. Bank notes 
  10. Precious stones, gold, silver, platinum (whether manufactured or not) 
  11. Explosives 
  12. Compressed Gas (Gases) 
  13. Flammable Liquids and Solids
  14. Flammable solids; substances liable to spontaneous combustion 
  15. Oxidizing Materials and organic peroxides 
  16. Toxic and infectious substances 
  17. Corrosives 
  18. Radioactive material 
  19. Living animals, Livestockand bloodstock
  20. Items sent in furtherance of a fraudulent act or with the intention of avoiding full payment of appropriate charges
  21. Articles which by nature or their packaging may expose officials or the general public to danger, soil or damage other items 
  22. Insertion of correspondence in parcels 
  23. Printed matter and items for the blind shall not bear any inscription or contain any item of correspondence 
  24. Other articles the importation or circulation of which is prohibited in the country of destination 
  25. Firecrackers
  26. Cigarette Lighters
  27. Aerosol Cans eg. Deodorants
  28. Matchsticks
  29. Magnetized Materials
  30. Battery Powered Devices
  31. Fragile Items
  32. Gas Filled Shock Absorbers
  33. Dry Ice
  34. Dangerous goods

Articles or substances capable of posing risk to health, safety, property or the environment are classified as dangerous goods.  Many everyday items such as lithium batteries, cleaning fluids and perfumes are classified as dangerous goods and are forbidden in the mail, except those specifically referred to in the regulations to be admitted under specialized conditions certified by relevant authorities. 

 

RESTRICTED ITEMS

It requires special Licenses /Permits have to be obtained for the import/export of such items 

  1. Meat and edible meat offal 
  2. Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers 
  3. Fish and other aquatic invertebrates 
  4. Dairy produce; birds' eggs; natural honey; edible products of animal origin, 
  5. Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth 
  6. Pharmaceutical products 
  7. Base minerals and articles of base metal 
  8. Ivory must be accompanied by a National Parks permit. Import license issued by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce required. 
  9. Heritage and cultural products
